Car hire in Zante is a great idea if you are staying in a villa,
or if you want to fully explore the island, the third largest in
the Ionian Sea. There are many beaches and resorts to be explored
along the south and east coasts which you can visit at your own
pace in your own car. Some companies will allow you to take your
car on the ferry across to Kefalonia and also to mainland Greece
to visit Olympia, check this with the car hire company.
Drivers
need to be aged 21 and over, although some hire companies may stipulate
a minimum age of 23. You must hold a Full Driving Licence issued
by any EU country.
Drive
on the RIGHT side of the road.
It
is also possible to hire mopeds and Quad bikes on the island.
Bus
The bus station (KTEL) is situated at the top of the hill, behind
the waterfront in Zakynthos town. All buses arrive and depart from
here. Bus prices are very reasonable, (between 1 to 3 euro’s
per journey, per person), are air-conditioned and travel to the
following places on the island:-
Tsilivi, Laganas, Kalamaki, Argassi, Alykes, Vasilkkos, Galaro,
Maherado, Agios Leon, Kipseli, Gerakaria, Tragaki, Agalas, Keri,
Lithakia, Katastari, Volima Korith, Exohora, Kampi, Gyri, Porto
Roma Vasilkkos, St Nicholas Vasilikkos, Keri Lake, Water Village
and Volimes.

vary between resorts. Bus timetables are available from the station.

Taxi
Taxis
are available all over the island and easy to find. There is a taxi
rank in most resorts. The rates are fixed to popular destinations.
Agree a price with the driver before you depart.
